Faith Hope Love

Today’s three-part sermon touches on some of the basic keystones of God’s kingdom: love, faith and hope. These powerful and intertwined forces help cement a Christian lifestyle and a stronger bond with God. I truly believe that if you remember to live by these basics, you are not only flourishing the kingdom of God, but your life and the lives of those around you. It’s hard to turn a blind eye to all the evil in the world, therefore I don’t think we are supposed to. Romans 12:21 says, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good”, so it is important to explore ways to instill good in our lives. Love. Love is critical, and it doesn’t take much for us to realize that. 1 Corinthians 13:13 directly states that out of faith, hope, and love, “the greatest of these is love.” Love is not something that has to be taught; love is part of human nature. Let this serve as a reminder to show love to someone today. You already know this, but love can be as simple as saying, “hello” or “how are you doing?”.
Whatever your life looks like, it’s easy to get caught in the distractions of each day. A bad day can alter one’s view on life entirely. That is why it is important to hope. Hope keeps us motivated; it excites us for tomorrow, and ultimately, it’s what gets us to the finish line. Never lose hope, because hope is not a delusion, it’s an outlook on life. You can be anxious for tomorrow, or you can be excited for tomorrow. Hope keeps our attention on eternal life with God, instead of earthly things.
One of the most helpful tools is faith. The average person can’t help but be curious when someone of strong faith comes along. They want to know what inspired and rooted your faith, which brings them to God. Weak and shaky faith will crumble when attacked by evil, but a firm faith in God will always overcome evil.
The Bible makes it clear that the essentials, faith, hope, and love, create a better life for you, your Christian brothers and sisters, and the entirety of the world.
