Happy New Year! My prayer is that, for us as individuals and as a congregation, 2026 will be our best year yet. Over the last couple of months, we’ve talked about how faith intersects with our mental and emotional health. Now we’re going to listen closely to how Scripture describes freedom, identity, and life in the Spirit.
Paul writes in Romans 12 that we can be “transformed by the renewing of your mind.” In Galatians, he makes it clear that the gospel is meant to shape our whole lives. The gospel is not just a ticket that guarantees heaven, and it’s not simply a program to help us become the best versions of ourselves. The gospel—the good news of Jesus the Christ, crucified and raised—proclaims that we have been rescued from the brokenness of this present world.
Galatians is full of rich gospel implications. Paul writes to the churches (and, by extension, to us) about the beauty of faith and grace, about what a renewed community looks like, and about what spiritual growth is in the life of a Christian. But running beneath all of it is this steady truth: through Jesus Christ, we have been set free.
I’m excited to walk through this letter together. For those already following Jesus, may it deepen your trust and reshape your life. And if you’re new or exploring faith, I’m glad you’re here. I pray this is a safe place to discover who Jesus is and what freedom in him means.
