In His Steps

In His Steps

In His Steps

Good morning, Church. Today should be a great but busy day at Manchester. In addition to a special worship service built around the theme of seeking God’s will and following “in his steps,” we’ll also talk at the end of worship about an important survey the whole congregation is asked to take.

As you know, until about five years ago, Manchester had three men who worked as full-time ministers.  For the moment, I’m the only full-time minister, but we’re working to add at least one additional minister in the coming months.  When the elders and I collaborated to put together a special committee that would help us identify ministry gaps so that we could faithfully identify our needs, I knew we had a big task ahead of us. The challenge was to stay patient, focus on prayer, and work together in unity to try and see where God is trying to lead us. So far, I think we’ve been doing that, and I can already see how God has blessed us.

An enormous amount of thanks goes to the Discernment Committee members who meet with me every week as we spend time in the Word and in prayer before working in a variety of ways to keep all of you involved in this process, too.  The DC is comprised of myself, Kim Main, Anthony Nash, Gail Bouffard, Gary Yeats, Sue Scanlon, Mike St. Germain, Judith Jude, Andre McMillian, Haylie Yeats, Robert Klein, and Jamila Lyiscott. If you have any questions about the discernment process we’re in, please ask any of us or any of the elders, who also rotate through our weekly meetings.

Please keep praying for us and this process daily. Our only aim is to be faithful to the guidance of God, because we know that he loves his church and wants us to know the joy of participating fully in his mission of making himself known to the whole world.  What a blessing that is!
