A Decisive Step for All

A Decisive Step for All

A Decisive Step for All

The new year is typically associated with change. For most individuals, that usually takes place in the form of a New Year’s resolution and the idea that they are committing to something new. For others, they look at the new year as the next chapter of life in a story that is continually unfolding. For us, however, I want to look at the new year as the start of a new journey. For us as a congregational body at Manchester Church of Christ and as individual Christians, we are coming out of a year that was not what we expected and 2024 has a lot of unknowns in the months ahead. We’re asking ourselves, “Where do we go from here? What comes next?” Over the next several weeks, we’re going to be looking at the story of the Israelites being led out of slavery to Egypt and into the wilderness. Led by Moses, the Israelites were also anxious about what life away from Egypt and being fully dependent on God would look like. We’ll be following along starting at the midway point of Exodus and tying it into the teachings of the New Testament each and every week. Alongside the ministry focus of discipleship with Dr. McKinney II, my hope is that the lessons from Israelites rescue from Egypt will give us the encouragement, both as individuals and a church body, the encouragement to place our trust in God and to begin walking this journey together one step at a time.

Discussion Questions:

1. What are you building your life around? Why is it hard to build your life around God?

2. What metaphor (journey, adventure, etc) do you typically use to describe spiritual growth as a Christian?

3. How can we pray for and help our non-Christian friends, family, and neighbors to be rescued?
