Who Knows?
For Such a Time as This
“Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” ~ Esther 4:14
Have you ever wondered if you were born for the time you are in?
It was Esther’s cousin and guardian, Mordecai, who posed that life-changing question to her. At first glance, Esther was simply a young Jewish woman who had become queen. She had not planned it. She had not pursued it. She certainly had not expected the weight of responsibility that would one day rest on her shoulders.
Yet when the moment came, Mordecai challenged her to consider something bigger than herself.
Who knows?
What if every experience in our lives—every joy, every disappointment, every victory, every tear—has been preparing us for this particular season?
What if the wisdom we have gained through years of walking with God is exactly what someone else needs?
What if the hardship we have survived has become someone else’s source of strength and hope?
What if the doors God has opened were never just for our benefit, but so we can stand in the gap for someone else?
Most of us will never wear a crown like Esther, but every one of us has been placed in a unique circle of influence. We have families to love, neighbors to encourage, churches to serve, children to teach, friends to comfort, and strangers to bless. God doesn’t place people where they are by accident, and He doesn’t waste a single chapter of our personal stories.
The question is not whether God has a purpose for our lives—He does.
The question is whether we will trust Him enough to step into it.
Sometimes we hesitate because we feel unqualified. Esther did too. Sometimes we fear failure or rejection. Esther faced both. Yet courage is not the absence of fear; it is choosing obedience despite it.
Perhaps today God is whispering the same question to us:
Who knows?
Who knows what God can do through one conversation, one act of kindness, one prayer, one invitation, or one step of faith?
We do not have to know the whole plan.
We simply have to say yes to the next step.
For all we know, this very moment may be the “such a time as this” we have been prepared for all along.
Where has God placed you right now? Who in your life needs your courage, your faith, or your encouragement? Ask God to help you recognize the opportunities He has uniquely entrusted to you.
Who is your Mordecai? Can you identify someone God has placed in your life to encourage you, challenge you, and remind you of His purpose? And just as importantly, to whom can you be a Mordecai today?
Perhaps you are living your own “such a time as this.” Trust God with the next step and leave the rest in His capable and mighty hands.
