Monday Motivation

Good morning, Church.  I’m praying that God will bless us and form us more into the image of Jesus this week.

In yesterday’s sermon, I talked about how our heart doesn’t always keep pace with our head when it comes to our faith.  We know a lot about God and his faithfulness (see Exodus 34:5-7), but we don’t always feel like God is our shepherd—our protector and provider.  We even looked at three psalms (Psalm 103, 102, and 88) to see how the psalmists responded to God during great times, not-so-great times, and horrible times.  Their emotions varied with the variances of life, but their faith did not fail.

The evidence of their sustained faith was that they stuck it out with God.  When they felt blessed, they praised God.  When they felt uncertain or conflicted, they prayed to God.  When they felt alone and couldn’t seem to find God, they still cried out for him to hear and answer.  That’s the right path for us, too, no matter what kind of day we’re having.  Stick with God.  He knows what we’re going through.

And remember, if you’re in the days of trial and darkness, God hears you, and God will rise up to come to your aid.  Our God is not weak.  Our God is not uncaring.  Our God’s voice still booms into the darkness, “Let my people go!”

Here’s a song that conveys that message, and I hope it motivates you to stay faithful this Monday and every day.   To hear it, click here (Go Down, Moses).

God bless you always,

Patrick

May’s Memory Verse:  “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.  Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:15-16, ESV).
