Every Sunday we gather together as a church family to praise and worship God. The central, most important component aspect of our worship together is taking the Lord’s Supper. In the taking of the bread and the cup, we participate in the death of Christ.
Yet, significantly, taking the Lord’s Supper is not something we do as individuals who just happen to be engaging in the practice at the same time as others. Rather, we participate in communion as the body of Christ and family of faith. In this moment, we remind ourselves of and place before us the grace and mercy of Christ.
It’s in this weekly practice that we are strengthened by the grace of God as a community. But, how are we supposed to enter into this time together? What attitudes and postures should we possess as a united family?
This Sunday, we’ll explore what it means to truly be a family of faith who together participate in the death of Christ through the Lord’s Supper. We’ll ponder questions around humility, repentance, and confession, all in the hope that we’ll be shaped into a community that is the aroma of Christ to our community. My hope and prayer is that we’ll be strengthened and encouraged as we examine the significance of participating in communion together.
