The Vineyard of the Lord
Good morning, Church family. It’s been a hot, busy week, and it is great to be back in worship with all of you this morning. When I’m able to take a couple of days off like I did last week to enjoy the beauty of God’s nature, I’m so thankful for that time. It’s refreshing to breathe in the forest air and hear waves brush against the shoreline. It’s invigorating to smell the salt sea and feel the sun on our face. But if you gave me the opportunity to be in any of those glorious settings this morning, I’d have to say I’d rather be right here worshiping the Almighty with the people of God.
We just can’t let the power and experience of weekly worship be the sum total of our walk with Christ. There’s so much more to the experience of life with God that we need to cultivate and nurture.
In today’s sermon text (Mark 12:1-12), we’ll be talking about some of these things in more detail. If you were here and heard the sermon last week, you’ll notice that the parable Jesus tells today really connects with what happened when he cursed the fig tree and cleansed the temple. If you weren’t here last week, don’t worry; I’ll catch you up this morning. This topic is too important to miss and too big to cram into last week’s sermon time anyway. So, again, I’m thankful to be here with all of you, and I’ve been praying that God’s Spirit will move amongst us so that we hear his words and are convicted, so that we feel his presence and are comforted, and so that we go out into the world and do the work he gave us to do by the power he gives us to accomplish it in his name.
