Mark 6:30-56, Running on Empty
Please bear with me as I share a number of statements of fact that are all true at the same time for those of us who have given our life to God and follow Jesus….
God loves you all the time.
God wants you to try harder to be better.
God saves you by his grace, because nobody can ever earn salvation.
God expects us to be actively pursuing righteousness by faith, because faith without action is dead.
God knows what you need and will provide for all your needs.
God still allows us, even though he loves us, to experience trials and deprivation.
God tells us that we don’t need to be afraid.
God tells us over and over again to be courageous, because he knows there’s plenty that scares us.
God knows that we can get so low that we give up and walk away from him.
God uses the hard times of life to refine us and purify us and shape us more into his perfect likeness.
God walks with us every step of the way, and especially in the storms.
In this morning’s sermon, taken from Mark 6:30-56, we’ll have the chance to encounter some of these truths. I know that many of us are worn out. Some among us feel empty. Maybe a few are almost ready to quit. But before you do, watch Jesus. Pay close attention to what he’s done in the past, because his compassion hasn’t run out, his love never fails, and he won’t ever give up on you.
