A Peek Behind the Curtain
Good morning, Church! We can be thankful that God has brought us together again for a day of praise, remembrance, celebration, and encouragement. Many of our spiritual family are traveling, some are sick, some are homebound, and others are struggling to the point of not rejoining us for worship right now. That’s not a statement of judgment; it’s a statement of compassionate reminder that we need to keep checking in with people so they know they are missed and loved. We never give up on people, and everybody needs to know that.
Look around this morning and make a list of some people you know who are missing. While it’s a big part of the shepherds’ role to constantly check on the health of the flock, it’s also natural for the sheep to keep a friendly eye on their fellow sheep. We all share in this responsibility, so let’s try to build up a habit of friendly check-ins during the week with those we don’t have with us today.
Another good habit we’ve been working to develop is the discipline of daily prayer. Please make good use of the prayer guides we provide each week, and please keep praying for the work being done by the Discernment Committee as we continue to seek God’s guidance as we move closer to identifying the ministry gaps we have that we want to address through the hiring of an additional minister(s). We are working hard each week and are making progress, thanks to God. I plan to share more information about that with you all today.
Finally, let’s try to really pour ourselves out in worship this morning, because God will not let us leave empty. He will refill us with his love, grace, and purpose if we will create that space in our hearts. Our God is good all the time, so let’s worship like we believe it.
