A Gentle Reminder

A Gentle Reminder

Good morning, Church. I’m sending this as a gentle reminder that can elevate your day if you will put it into practice. There’s nothing new or intricate here: this is basic, fundamental stuff.  But none of us are perfect, and we can all use this as a kind reminder to be like Jesus.

For all of us wearing Jesus’ name, here are a handful of fundamentals we need to remember before we say, type, tweet, or text:

  1. Avoid hypocrisy by examining yourself before judging others (Matthew 7:1-6).
  2. Consider the interests of others and humble yourself like Christ did (Philippians 2:3-8).
  3. Love the way God teaches us—even when dealing with people we don’t like or understand (Matthew 5:43-48; 1 Corinthians13:1-13).
  4. Remember that the tongue is a deadly weapon that can set on fire the whole course of life (James 3:1-10).
  5. Bear with one another and forgive each other as Christ forgave you (Colossians 3:5-17).

No matter what side you are on, no matter what issue is involved, if we can follow these basic principles, we will elevate not only the conversation but our experience of life in Christ.

May God bless you and others through you today,

Patrick
