Sharing Jesus, part 4: How
In recent weeks, we’ve talked about why we should share Jesus. We’ve talked about the content and experiences that are included in sharing Jesus. We even talked at length last week about various ways we can all be involved in sharing Jesus. But talking about sharing Jesus isn’t the same as actually sharing Jesus. It’s time for us to develop a plan and commit to it.
Good generals don’t lead troops into battle without a battle plan and without the soldiers knowing their roles and responsibilities.
Good coaches don’t put a basketball team on the court without a game plan and strategy that’s been purposefully designed, communicated, and practiced.
Good churches don’t do good ministry without good planning, either.
One of the things I love most about life in Christ is working in partnership with the family God gives us as his church. I need the friendships and encouragement and mentoring that I find from people of faith. I am blessed with the fellowship and common worldview we share together. But I know that being a Christian is more than just being blessed by God through his church. Being a follower of Jesus also means we go where he went and do what he taught us to do. That includes a lot of different things, and the most important of them is sharing the good news of the kingdom of God in love. You and I together share that responsibility. We owe it to God to plan and prepare and take his good news into the world we live in. I pray that today’s lesson helps equip us to keep growing in that mission.
