Living in God’s Grace
Welcome to worship this morning! We’ve already had a special blessing this weekend with our annual Inspire New England conference. Mike Ireland from Searcy, Arkansas, has been our keynote speaker for the weekend, and he will be preaching and teaching a combined class for us this morning. So, you are in for a treat. Mike and I ministered together at the West Side Church of Christ in Searcy, AR, from 2004-2011, and I learned a lot from his mentoring and his example. He loves God and the church, and you will undoubtedly hear something this morning that blesses you and helps you walk a little more in step with Jesus.
Our entire weekend has been focused on Living in God’s Grace, and I want us to remember that his grace not only saves us, but it also sustains us and secures us for a life well-lived with him. There are so many things in life that we rely on and enjoy that we could never provide or maintain for ourselves. We feel these things most acutely when we lose them: freedom, loved ones, steady income, confidence, happiness. I understand that we do play a role in achieving some of these things, but most of us have felt some erosion in such things in recent months and years. When we realize how limited our power is, we begin to crumble under the stress of life or else we find a safe place to seek refuge. And that safe place is only found in God’s grace.
If you are struggling in any way, please don’t be fooled by the devil into thinking that you have to carry your burdens alone. God is your helper and your sustainer if you will trust him. If you aren’t sure how to do that, reach out to me, and we’ll work on it together. With God, there is always a way.
