Kingdom Priorities (Mark 1:40-2:12)

Good morning, everyone.  It’s so good to be back together in person after being relegated to online worship last Sunday.  I’m thankful we have that option when we really need it, but I’m so thankful we can be together most of the time.  Let’s keep praying that God will soon bring an end to Covid concerns so that everyone can be back together all the time.  We really feed off the energy the Holy Spirit brings when we’re in the same space together as God’s family, and some things just can’t be fully replicated at a distance.

This is a good time to remind those of us who are able to join together for worship to not forget those who cannot be here in person.  Many people are still shut in due to health issues, mobility issues, or concerns about the health of others in their immediate circles.  I know they appreciate calls, cards, texts, and other good reminders that they are not forgotten.  So, let’s not wait on somebody else to do it; take the initiative and send someone some encouragement this week.

This is also a good time to think again about one person in your life who really needs to get closer to Jesus.  If each one of us could reach one person for God this year, what a great year it would be!  Start by thinking about the people God has already put into your life, and then start praying daily for that person by name.  Pray that God gives you the courage to act when God presents the opportunity.  You may have to risk something.  You may have to do some heavy lifting.  You may annoy others around you in the process.  But it will be worth it.  We’ll look at an example of this in our sermon time today.
