Guest Speaker: Dr Olu Shabazz
Welcome to worship this morning! We’ve been blessed by the Lord with a weekend full of encouragement, fellowship, and opportunities to have our faith renewed and our zeal rekindled. Many of you volunteered with Inspire New England, and your efforts did not go unnoticed. Thank you so much for making people feel welcome and uplifted.
I’m excited this morning to hear another lesson from Dr. Olu Shabazz the senior preaching minister at the Harlem Church of Christ. He has been speaking on the theme of “Revive Us Again” this weekend, and I know it’s a theme that really resonates with me. Like you, I sometimes struggle with a variety of challenges that cause us to grow frustrated and weary. And like you, I pray for God’s strength, endurance, and protection from the evil one. So this is a day I’ve been looking forward to because, like you, I’ve come here this morning to worship our God and to be revived.
When we come together to worship, I often think of Hebrews 12:22-24, which says, “But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.” That inspires me to be thankful, to be faithful, and to be praiseful today.
May the Lord God be pleased with everything we do this morning as we celebrate Jesus Christ the risen Lord and as we rededicate ourselves to living in ways that bring honor and glory to his name.
