A God Who Provides for Us
Bible class with Mark Varney begins @1:05:42
A common expression within Christianity is, “God will provide.” This statement naturally follows the character of God that we read about in the Bible. You may even remember learning the following message about God. “Every good and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change” (James 1.17).
God is seen to be this amazing, all powerful, loving God who provides for us as a loving father for his children – and he is that God. But what happens when we experience something that does not seem to fit this pattern? What happens when we know someone who seems to be ignored by God? How do we respond to events in the world that cause us to question our understanding of God?
Our lesson this week focuses on God as a provider. God is a provider, but like all other attributes of God, it is important that we allow him to define that part of himself. Unfortunately, it is easy to misunderstand the nature of God – and we all do this to some degree. Our God provides, but what does that mean? We will explore a portion of that idea today.
