The Manchester Church of Christ has a vibrant group of seniors who are a vital part of the congregation. Their collective life experiences and their wisdom make them invaluable examples for others in the congregation.
In 1991, Barbara Brewer (one of our founding members) and others decided to formalize this group. It was decided that members age 60 and above would be part of the “Senior Saints” group. The first meeting of the Senior Saints was held in February 1991 where it was decided that the mission of the group would be to serve others and to fellowship with each other. Ever since then, the seniors have met regularly. Over the years, many have been served by this group. Current service projects include: making welcome baskets for new members, preparing care packages for college students, providing camperships to the local Christian camp, preparing meals for shut-ins, etc. The seniors have also been the recipients of service projects by our children and teens. This intergenerational interaction is vital for the future of the church.
Many of our seniors are actively involved in teaching others. Sometimes it is teaching Bible classes; sometimes it is by their example of serving the church in many other ways. Our seniors are invaluable resources for the Manchester congregation. Contact the church office for more information in how you can become involved in this group.
