January Youth Group Activity

Activity: “Hiking for Faith” (Register please so we know how many drivers we’ll need! )

Location: Risley Reservoir Trail, Vernon, CT (Parking is on Lake Street)

Bible Lesson: “The Parable of the Lost Sheep” (Luke 15:1-7)

After lunch (provided at the building) we’ll head to the reservoir to embark on an easy 2.3-mile loop hike around the Risley Reservoir’s Blue Blaze Trail. Along the way, we will discuss the parable of the Lost Sheep and how it relates to our own lives. We’ll consider questions like, “How does this parable remind us of God’s love for us?” “In what ways do we sometimes feel lost in our own lives, and how can we turn to God for guidance?” (This is an enhanced activity based off of the Wednesday night parables class)

At the end of the hike, we will take a moment to reflect on the lesson while enjoying the beautiful view of the reservoir.

After the hike we’ll enjoy a snack and hot cocoa at the nearest Dunkin’ so please send the kids with snack money. We’ll end the activity with this action plan, “Think of someone in your life who may be feeling lost and reach out to them this week.”

This activity is designed to create an environment where our teens can deepen their faith, connect with nature, and enjoy the company of their peers. The Risley Reservoir Trail is an easy hike but please make sure they bring sturdy shoes, winter jackets, mittens, and hats!

We hope your teen can join us for this time of friendship and faith-building! We should arrive back at the church for pick-up by 3:30 PM.

Register please so we know how many drivers we’ll need!
