Know and Pray
Embracing a lifelong journey of spiritual growth can be profoundly transformative. The insightful advice of R.T. Kendall, a seasoned minister with over 40 years of experience, underscores the importance of cultivating a deep understanding of the Bible and maintaining a strong prayer life.
“When they (the Sadducees) observed the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed and recognized that they had been with Jesus. “. Acts 4:13
Peter and John had been with Jesus, and that was enough to make them smarter and wiser than they were.
As Kendall succinctly puts it, “Know your Bible and pray a lot.” This timeless wisdom encourages us to develop a nuanced grasp of God’s Word and to pray consistently, thereby fostering a profound sense of connection with the divine. By embracing this guidance, we can, like Peter and John, embody the transformative power of faith, inspiring others through our words and actions.
“Rejoice always, give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”1 Thess. 5:16, 18
As we strive to live a life of holiness, we are reminded that this journey requires intentional effort, self-reflection, and a willingness to surrender our old ways. By knowing God’s Word, praying fervently, and seeking to live a life of obedience, we can experience the fullness of life that Jesus promises.
“The thief (Satan)comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
“Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is *written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”” 1 Peter 1:13-16
* “You must be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.” Leviticus 19:2b
As we lean into Jesus with love and openness, we can trust that He will guide us, transform us, and fill our lives with joy and purpose.
“Know your Bible and Pray a lot.”
