Speaks
In the definition of speaking, we acknowledge it is something done in order to convey information, an opinion, or a feeling.
Pay close attention to the ways the Lord may speak to you. It can come to you through the reading of His Word, through a spiritual song, through your prayer time with Him, through the encouragement of a trusted friend, through your thoughts, your dreams or your experiences.
God speaks to us in many ways, and even though we may not understand it, we can recognize it when it happens.
“For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds. He whispers in their ears and terrifies them with warnings. He makes them turn from doing wrong; he keeps them from pride.” Job 33:14-18
So, we do not have to understand it all in order to hear God speak to us. Our charge is to listen to His voice.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.” Provb.3:5-7
We also cannot afford to miss His subtleness or His clear directive, as both are invaluable to our spiritual protection and growth. It is both exciting and fearful to hear God speak. May we approach His throne, come into His counsel, and discern His voice with respect and awe.
“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” Phil. 2:13
How has God spoken to you? Are you learning to discern His voice? Is your will in alignment with His?
God does speak.
