It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Comin’!

It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Comin’!

It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Coming!

Sometimes life happens in ways that really mess up our plans. And whether it’s a minor thing or a big ordeal, I for one don’t like the aggravation. Once I have a plan, I like it to work out as expected. This, as you can guess, means I’m often having to work on my attitude to avoid getting negative, because if one thing is consistent about life, it’s that life is so consistently inconsistent. It’s rare that a whole day goes the way I plan it. So, I continue to learn how to handle unexpected adjustments in productive ways.

When Jesus died, his disciples were thrown for a loop. Can you even imagine how disruptive that reality was for them? And then when he was raised, once they got over their fear and disbelief, they were still reeling from a new reality that they couldn’t quite understand. But they had to learn to live with it—and not just with this new reality, but also with a new way of living that was so unpredictable.

Following God means we have to be ready for starts and stops and hairpin curves. We cannot possibly always see where God is leading us. Now, we know that he’s leading us closer to himself, but we often feel anxious because we can’t always understand what’s happening around us. So, it’s not unusual for us to get upset and wonder if something isn’t dreadfully wrong, because it can feel that way when things don’t go according to our plans.

The question is whether or not we’ll still be faithful and follow him. Even if it’s scary. Even if it seems too difficult for us. Even if it sounds nothing like the plans we made when we started this journey.

Lord willing, we’ll talk more about this during the sermon on Sunday! See you soon!
