It doesn’t matter what it is—a new diet, new workout regimen, new way to learn a language in thirty days—if you try to convince me that you’ve got just the thing that’s going to change my life, I’m skeptical. So, I hesitated before calling my new sermon series “Psalms That Will Change Your Life.” But I’m sticking with that title, because it’s true. These psalms really can change your life if you let them.
And there’s the catch. It’s the same one that so often comes with promises of miracle diets or waist-slimming workouts. If you put in the work, they just might work. The same is true of our attempts to grow in our relationship with God. The difference is that we don’t have to rely solely on our own motivation. God is our partner in this relationship, and he is motivated to help us grow.
Starting this Sunday and continuing over the next few weeks, I hope to inspire you to get to know the Psalms, because they give us such a dynamic view into what a healthy relationship with God looks like. And once you see it, assuming that you want to be closer to God, I think you’ll learn some things that really do have the power to change your life.
I hope to see you Sunday morning! Have a great weekend.
