This Sunday we have a gift for every lady who joins us for worship. As we did last year for Mother’s Day, we will have the church’s children hand out roses in honor of not only the mothers but all the women in attendance. We have removed the thorns, trimmed the stems, and put them in water. So, they should be big and beautiful by Sunday!
Now, I know that Mother’s Day isn’t an easy holiday for everyone. There are a lot of reasons for that, and we in no way want to cause you pain. Not everyone had a good mother, and not everyone who wishes to be a mother can be. Even so, motherhood is a good gift from God, and when moms function as God intends, they play a crucial role in God’s kingdom. So, we honor mothers and motherhood while also recognizing that all of our ladies have immense worth and value whether they’ve raised children or not. That’s why all the ladies receive flowers.
During the (shortened) sermon time, I hope to encourage and challenge the moms with a lesson from 1 Samuel 1-2 that tells the story of one of Scripture’s most godly moms of all. Please join us at 9:00am as we worship God and encourage one another.
In Him,
Patrick
