Good afternoon, Church! Don’t forget that we have children’s musical rehearsal and adult Bible class tonight from 6:30-8:00 at the church building!
It looks like we’ve been blessed with a few days of beautiful weather to start the week. I realize that I shouldn’t take this kind of blessing for granted, but sometimes I do. Sometimes I get so excited about good things that God brings into my life that I honestly forget to pause and say “thank-you.”
You might remember a story about the time ten lepers approached Jesus and asked to be healed. Here’s the actual text of that story in Luke 17:11-19…
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”
We can always find some reason to stop and thank God. Maybe it’s for good weather. Maybe it’s for healing. Maybe it’s for food on your table. Maybe it’s for some answered prayer. I’m sure you can find your own reason. Just remember that God has done good for you today, so don’t forget to pause and thank him for it.
In Christ,
Patrick
