You know, faith involves stepping out even if we don’t know where our foot will land. To live by faith not by sight is the way God expects his children to live (2 Corinthians 5:7). So, that means we are frequently going to be challenged to take risks for the sake of people like the ones Jesus targeted in his ministry.
On Sunday, we talked about the conversation Jesus had with a Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well. That encounter is recounted in John 4. One of the big takeaways from the text—at least for me—is that we cannot prejudge what someone else’s response will be when they are challenged by the good news of God’s kingdom. Jesus’ disciples were shocked to find Jesus talking with that woman, but his conversation with her led to many, many people placing their faith in him.
A great goal for us this week is to look for someone we can talk to about the love of Jesus. Don’t be afraid. Trust in God. Pray about it, and see where God leads. It’s possible—even likely—that God has already been working on someone’s heart, preparing that person for the time when you will turn their way and share with them a kind word about Jesus.
This could be the week you change someone’s life for the better, forever.
Grace and peace,
Patrick
